
Sheila Keegan is a children's book illustrator.
Sheila enjoys including kids from all ethnicities and backgrounds in her illustrations. She grew up in a multiracial family and is excited to illustrate diversity, especially cultures she has experienced in her travels. She hopes children will see themselves in her illustrations and feel empowered.
Sheila creates her illustrations both traditionally and digitally. She loves working with with art supplies like: watercolor, gouache, colored pencils, and paper collage. Her process begins with sketching and drawing, then value and color studies, mixed media painting, collage, scanning, and photoshop to assemble, make revisions, and add finishing touches.
Her illustrations have appeared in: They Draw and Travel: Book of Favorite Places, Uppercase Magazine, and in galleries in the U.S. and Asia. She is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design and is an active member of SCBWI.
In her free time, Sheila is fond of fruit and vegetable gardening, and painting portraits of pets wearing interesting outfits. She lives with her family in Cleveland, Ohio.
